JeanCHEESMANOf Huncoat, passed away peacefully at her home on January 14, aged 92 years. The devoted and loved wife of 70 years to Mark, adored and loving mum of Susan, Christine and Geoffrey, cherished nan of Becky, Rachel, Simone, Anna and Adam and a loved great-nan to her seven great-grandchildren, a dearly loved sister of Doreen, Marjorie and the late Ann and a much loved relative and friend to many. Born in Carlisle, Jean came to Accrington following a family move when she was aged 12, sadly following the move Jean lost her adored mum and baby brother Colin, both of whom she remembered fondly throughout her life. Following her school years Jean began her working life at EJ Riley’s in the admin department she also worked at Relay Vision and as a telephonist for the GPO before becoming a proud member of the Marks and Spencer retail team, Jean loved her work and she always had a warming smile to greet the many customers. Jean loved to dance and would often visit the Blackpool Tower Ball Room and it was here that she first met Mark, the couple shared a dance and as they say the rest was history and together they created the most loving partnership that led to a wonderful and happy 70 years of marriage. Jean was the most devoted family lady who loved to spend time with those closest to her and she loved nothing more than the family gathering for a celebration. Holidays were always looked forward to, enjoying many trips to Lake Garda, Tenerife, Scotland and America and to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary, Jean and Mark enjoyed a once in a life time trip to Singapore and Malaya visiting the places Mark had served during his time with the RAF. At home Jean loved to settle in her chair to read her latest novel and complete her daily crossword. A beautiful lady that will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Family flowers only please, donations can be made in Jean’s memory on behalf of Med Equip 4 Kids. To make a donation please visit champ funerals.com/obituaries or send to the funeral directors. Jean’s funeral will be held at Pendle Community Church, Barrowford followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium. For funeral times please contact the funeral directors.
