Martin was my primary school teacher in 1972. A very kind man who gave us good grounding in music, fitness (swimming and gymnastics), putting on shows (pantos and end of term talent shows). RIP

I knew Martin years ago when he and I were both members of Port of Plymouth Swimming Club. Martin was a terrific front-crawl swimmer back in the day and very well-respected by swimmers and adults alike, for his ability in the water but also for his honest and upright manner, straight and true. He devoted much of his spare time to the club and was a kind and dependable man, attending galas and club nights, water polo matches, etc., coaching and officiating at various events. Things may have changed for Martin in later years and swimming became of lesser importance but many people will have been affected by his diligence and fine character, even before he was twenty.
