ValerieCHIVERS(Oadby's Dragon Lady ) It is with great sadness that the family of Valerie (Val) announce her passing at home after much suffering so bravely borne. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her Husband Peter and all her family. A committal service for Val will take place on Thursday 20th July 2023 at 11.30 am at Great Glen Crematorium followed by a celebration of life at 12.15 pm at Oadby United Reform Church, Rosemead Drive, Oadby, Leicester, LE2 5SF. Family flowers only by polite request. Donations if so desired may be made payable to Marie Curie c/o Paul Pender & Son. I don’t know if anyone will ever see this. But Val meant a lot to me in my life. I read the book The Fire Within when I was a kid and was so obsessed, so I contacted her when I was 10 to see how much one of the dragons would cost. My parents ordered it for me and got it shipped to the US. I recently renovated my bedroom and placed it in a prominent spot so I researched about her to see what she was up to and found that she passed last month. Just want to say how much her art meant to me as a kid, but also how much it means to me now. She is missed.
