Donald ClarenceCHUBBFrome Community sadly lost a pillar on 11 May 2021 when Mr Donald Chubb, favourably known as 'Don' passed away from a short illness with Cancer. Born in No.4 Church House, Great Elm, nothing could entice him away from his beloved Frome. Following a Funeral Service held on 17 June 2021, in keeping with the current Covid19 regulations, Father Fairclough officiated and laid Don to rest alongside family members in St. Mary Magdalene's Churchyard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mona and Arnold Chubb and his two brothers: Michael and Patrick. Don lived a fulfilling life as a son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and a loyal friend. His contributions to the lives of many locals included the forming of a haulage firm in 1991, known as Factfirm Limited, serving local businesses, many employees were and continue to be Frome locals. Don built his business around the beautiful area of Waterloo Yard in Holwell Nunney, paralleling the river and includes the woods he often walked through. There, Don built his business and made Waterloo Yard his life in an area he loved, with friends helping him build his home above the Company workshop. His pastimes were based around his home and the flowing river; repairing many forms of engine, his treasured allotment and crafting a beautiful retaining wall the length of his land adjacent to the river. Don is survived by his daughter; Rachael and three sons; Douglas, Guy and Daniel. Inspired by Don, Chubb family members are either in the motor or haulage industry which continues today with his three sons, grandson Martin and nephew Stephen following in his footsteps. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of friends: old and new, together with everyone that he interacted with, including the many business associates, some who became friends. The family wish to thank everyone for their floral tributes and all the wonderful messages received in respect of Don.
