GrahamCLARKEGraham Clarke, aged 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on 12th January 2024.
He was a proud, enthusiastic Oxshott resident who contributed to the community over many years and in many ways. In 1993 Graham became Chairman of FEDORA, the non-profit organisation giving Oxshott a voice in local planning and community matters. With his wife Rita, who became the Advertising and Subscriptions Manager, they delivered magazines to local residents for decades and enjoyed chatting to everyone.
Both he and Rita supported the installation of the Oxshott Village Clock. They always looked forward to the Oxshott Village Day celebrations every May, with Graham bringing along his classic cars.
After a highly successful career in industry Graham eventually took the decision to work independently, establishing a property business. He was well known in the area as a landlord and property developer.
Graham came from Beckenham, the son of a Headmaster. After studying History at Cambridge University he joined the Territorial Army for 20 years and became a Major.
He wanted to live his life with Rita and their family in a family-friendly community with woods and an easy commute to London. They chose Oxshott. Graham enjoyed many social gatherings at the family home as well as travelling the world with Rita. Aged 80 they embarked on a Round-the-World Cruise.
Graham is much missed by his children Tessa and Douglas, grandchildren Artyom, Oliver and Oscar.
A Tribute Church Service is to be held at St. Andrews Church, Oxshott on Friday 15 March, 1.30pm.
All Welcome.
