DerekCLAYPeacefully after a long illness bravely borne, on the 10th of June 2022, in the loving care of Hilltop Care Home, aged 91 years. Devoted husband of the late Dorothy (Dolly), loving dad of Angela, Stephen and Michelle, dear father in law to Michael, Paula and Nigel, a hero of a grandad to Amy, Sam and Georgia and great-grandad to Harriet and Harlen. Would friends please meet at Woodlands Crematorium, Scunthorpe on Thursday the 30th of June 2022 at 1.20pm for service and committal. A truly lovely person and fantastic family man. Derek has been an inspirational part of my life since 1973 and thereafter, whenever we’ve needed it, he was always there with good advice and guidance for me and my family too. When he was 90, he told me how happy he was to see that his patience and confidence in me had paid off, and that at last, after 34 years of badgering me, I’d followed his advice and finally seen sense and bought myself a Japanese car 😊 He’s now reunited with the love of his life, Dolly and will undoubtedly be blessed with well deserved eternal happiness.
