GloriaCLEGG(nee Gilbert; also k/a Weston) We are very sad to announce that our wonderful mum, sister, nan and great nan Gloria, passed away at her home in Pevensey Bay on 3rd November, just before her 89th birthday.

Gloria was born into the Gilbert family, proprietors of Gilberts Garage in the Warren. As a young girl she joined the Red Cross cadets and volunteered with them for 42 years, working with the ambulance service as a volunteer nurse, where she met her first husband Chub Weston, and later supported the Red Cross community bathing service.

When her two daughters, Lorraine & Karen, started at Beacon school, Gloria trained as a youth worker there, a role that she loved. Many years later, when Gilberts Garage closed, she married her second husband, Charles Clegg, and they moved to Pevensey Bay right by the beach where she lived for the rest of her life enjoying the sunshine and the sea.

Most of all, Gloria loved her family and spending time with them. She doted on her grandchildren, Katy, Elliot and Sophie and her great grandchildren, Paige, Arthur and Toby.

Gloria's funeral will be held at Eastbourne Crematorium on Wednesday 27th November at 3pm

Donations in Gloria's memory can be made to St. Wilfrid's Hospice in Eastbourne, or to the Salvation Army.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. My Dad, Tom Izzard, would tell me about both Mr and Mrs Clegg having known them his whole life. I remember when we'd stay at the caravan him calling in to catch up and my young daughter always spotting the white horse. Sending much love to her family and I hope she and Mr Clegg can now have a good catch up with my Mum and Dad xx
