I spent my childhood in Honley and was a friend of Trevor from after we left Holmfirth Secondary School in June 1961 until the summer of 1964, along with Stanley Hoyle of Holmfirth, Barry Heppenstall of Brockholes and Richard Haigh of Jackson Bridge. I have many happy teenage year memories of Saturday night’s spent dancing and meeting girls at ‘The Starlight’ in Huddersfield and Sunday evenings spent playing the latest ‘Beetles’ records at a different parents house each week! In later years, the group also shared the new freedom of being able to borrow our father’s cars and venture out to 10-pin bowling in Halifax, or to the Nag’s Head at Ainley Top!
I lost contact with both Trevor and Stanley prior to emigrating to Canada in 1969, but remain in contact with Barry, down the coast in San Diego and occasionally Richard. I would like to offer my condolences at this sad time of loss to Trevor’s family, for what was hopefully a life well lived.
