ErnestCOLEErnest ‘Ernie’ Cole passed away peacefully at home in Washington Street, Accrington on Sunday, November 6, aged 86 years. Ernie worked as a foreman for Smith and Nephew and in his retirement pursued his love of vintage planes and air shows along with building his own computers. He enjoyed many family holidays to Turkey, Spain, Italy and Ireland. Along with his wife Mary, he loved attending live music events, particularly enjoying The Houghton Weavers and Foster and Allen. He also loved listening to Country and Western music. He was a member of the RAF Association and also The Royal British Legion and sold poppies annually for them. He was the devoted husband of Mary and beloved father of Lynn and Susan and father-in-law to Phil, cherished grandad of Debbie, Raymond, Michael and Lauren. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Davis, Leiton, Maisy and Elisabeth who he adored and all adored him. Ernie’s family would like to thank the district nurses, the Palliative Care Team and all the carers who looked after him. He will be sorely missed by all who met him. His funeral took place on Thursday, November 17 at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Neil Overton. Family flowers only, donations to Cancer Research UK. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
