He will be sadly missed by his wife Ann Valerie, children Laura, James and Robert, grandchildren, extended family and friends. I spent some happy times with Gerry as his agent when he fought the Morecambe & Lonsdale constituency for Labour about 40 years ago. True to form Gerry thought he would win, despite the fact that a blue donkey would have won in that constituency!
We met up again when we were at Westminster with Geraldine Smith MP. Gerry came out and we spent a happy hour in the bar - Gerry was the only one smoking roll ups! He was a one-off but endearingly pleasant. Rest in peace mate.
