I joined Cape Insulation in 1972 and Vic was my gaffer. I hadn't seen him since 1980, but when I went to visit my son in FVRH, in the bed opposite was this chirpy nonagenarian He told me about his party in June and I happened to mention the Cape. What's your name he asked, and I told him Derek Galloway and he said I fine remember you, then he told me his name and we crossed 44 years in half an hour My son said that Vic had a bad couple of nights when he left and I prayed for Vic's recovery Alas, I checked the Observer notices and feel a wee bit emotional Hopefully his poor family will take some comfort from having him all these years Memories can be wonderful things after the heartbreak subsides
Rest in peace Vic
