Dear John, I've been having a bit of a hard time the last few days and thinking of you and the memories I have of you and the old days have kept my spirits up. I wish I could speak to you once more in person. Always in my heart xxx

It leaves me so sad to be typing this message. The memories I have of you will stay with me forever. You've left a void in so many peoples lives that can never be filled. I remember the first time I met you at the Montebello Hotel. You and my dad instantly became the best of friends. We absolutely loved our evenings at the Montebello....laughing, joking, singing along! My Dad would always look forward to our twice yearly holidays to Ilfracombe and having a few pints with you. You truly made our holidays memorable! Then I grew up and moved to Combe and you would always give me a hug if I was walking past the No. 3. I remember I was in the No.3 on my Birthday and you bought me a drink and we shared a laugh and a joke. You were and still are a true legend in the town. I will be coming to say farewell on the 21st, but its not goodbye.....just see you later. Until we meet again, rest peacefully my dear friend. Love, Lauren, John, Pauline Northwood.
