As a six and a half year old I did not have many memories that I would remember for the rest of my life. However one Sunday morning in April was unusual enough to become one of them. I had no concept of pregnancy or what the outcome of it would be so that Sunday morning was surprising as a new baby became part of our family. It was probably this combination of unusual and surprising that made it something that I will never forget.
Now I have another memory that I will never forget due to the shock and sorrow of that life I remember starting, all those years ago, now having ended, unexpected and suddenly. These memories are the bookends to a life that was too short and Barbara is someone who will always be part of who I am.
