For Eileen, My Mum

Mum, these are our golden years
We've shared the heartache,
We've shared the tears
We've shared the laughter
and the good times too
Trips to the theatre, the pictures,
the zoo
We've bopped till we dropped
round the livingroom
Our microphone the handle
of an old kitchen broom
Then we settled into
a comfy pair
Me running round
You tucked up in your chair
I knew some day we'd have to part
To lose you then would break my hear
But I'll try hard not to be too sad
And think instead of all the good times
we had
Our singalongs to our favourite songs
The stories you told
of days of old
I remember you with love and pride
You'll always be right by my side
You'll be with me
every step of the way
And I'll love you then
As I love you
today
