My dad Jack Connor carried the poem you wrote for your beloved wife with him all his life and I have it now. Thank you.
"The God's today have parted us,
The fatal die is cast,
And I am left to ponder
fond memories of the past,
Sad visions come before my eyes,
I look for you in vain.
My restless brain is all afire,
My heart is crushed with pain
But God's decree has now pronounced
That we must part for life,
I think of you sweet Dorothy,
My one time loving wife,
The tide of time will leave its lines
Upon my aged brow,
But you'll live in my memory
More faithfully than now
When those I love and leave behind
No longer hear my voice,
When others take my earthly place,
Installed there by God's choice,
Valentine and Dorothy shall reunited be
In that great land beyond the vale,
From earthly sorrows free."
In loving memory of my beloved wife Dorothy O'Brien, departed this life 13th March 1938. A tribute from her loving husband Valentine
