Chris,
You were not only my father-in-law but my friend.
We shared lots of good times together with various holidays, day trips, football matches (up the Gas!) and even an evening with Harry Redknapp! I remember being nervous the 1st time we meet for dinner round your house but pretty much the 1st words out of your mouth were "Alright Bill? there’s a beer in the fridge if you want one?" I knew we would get on after that and those words were repeated pretty much every time I came round!
I will miss our chats and the banter that we shared especially when you would try and ambush me like Cato did to Clouseau with a newly found fact you learned eager to see if I knew it or not! The raise of your eyebrows and grin you gave when I did not know the answer will always stay with me as will the genuine look of disappoint and the phrase “Oh you knew that did you?”.
Another well used phrase was “Where’s Chris/Dad/Grandad/Your father” as you had an uncanny ability to suddenly disappear without telling anyone, much to annoyance of some but I found it greatly amusing and an essential part of your character.

Stay “cosmic” wherever you are and hopefully they “do do beef stifado” alongside some “blood of Christ”!
Until we meet again…
Bill
