Charles William PeterCOOMBESof Portishead, Bristol. Died peacefully on the 30th December 2019 aged 71 years. Beloved husband of Jenny, cherished father of Nicholas and Sally, adored grandfather of Hazel and Alys and youngest brother of Nigel and Annabel. Funeral to be held at South Bristol Crematorium on Monday the 27th of January at 10.30am. All welcome, family flowers only. Donations in memory of Charles for Southmead Hospital Renal Unit (cheques payable to Southmead Hospital Charity) may be forwarded to F. H. Charles was a true friend, right up to the end. We performed music together in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He was the finest musician I ever played with and was comfortable with all styles from ballads to the blues. Irene and I share great memories of Charles, especially in the early 1970s. Our thoughts are with his family at this time. Mitch.

I had the privilege of sharing a stage with Charles a few times in the late 1960s. He had a great singing voice and played a mean blues harmonica. I am glad I met up with him last year after a gap of 48 years.
