So sorry to hear about Peter who my late wife Gill and myself first met in 2008 on a river cruise from Moscow to St Petersburg. We had such a lot of fun then and continued to see Peter and his lovely wife Elizabeth at regular intervals for many years until fairly recently. Peter and I shared much in common including sport of all kinds but particularly football and cricket. Peter had been a referee for some years and had lots of stories to relate about matches where he had officiated. He was also a mine of information on all things connected with Stoke City FC. We also enjoyed numerous enjoyable outings with our better halves including a memorable lunch at Hambleton Hall in 2011 when we celebrated our Ruby wedding anniversaries. Incredibly Peter and Elizabeth were married the week before us in 1971.
I also recall Peter's keen interest in reading and stamp collecting not to mention his great skill at cribbage where I
seemed to lose nearly every time to him!
It is so sad that circumstances with my late wife's mobility meant that I was not able to see Peter very much in recent years but he has often been in my thoughts. I send my deepest sympathy to Elizabeth and to her family at this sad time..
