COREY HAIMCanadian actor and former teen idol Corey Haim died of a suspected overdose on 10 March, 2010, aged 38.He was best known for starring in comedy-horror film The Lost Boys (1987) and other fondly remembered movies of the 1980s.He appeared in several films alongside fellow teen star Corey Feldman and they had made two series of a reality TV show The Two Coreys in 2007 and 2008.Born in Toronto on 23 December, 1971, he was originally enrolled in acting classes by his mother to overcome his shyness.His first break came in the early 1980s when he landed a regular role in Canadian TV comedy series The Edison Twins on Canadian television.He made his feature film debut in gritty drama Firstborn (1984) alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. He also starred in 1985’s Silver Bullet, a werewolf thriller based on a Stephen King novella.His reputation was growing with other film roles, such as Murphy's Romance (1985) and Lucas (1986), but it was vampire thriller The Lost Boys which firmly established his reputation as a teen star. Directed by Joel Schumacher, it paired him with Corey Feldman for the first time.They went on to star together in License to Drive (1988) and Dream a Little Dream (1989) and other teen-orientated comedies, as well as National Lampoon’s Last Resort (1994).As the 1990s progressed he starred in numerous minor films as well as a video game, Double Switch (1993).In 2004 he had a spell in rehab and moved back to Toronto. The same year he was the subject of a song by Irish band The Thrills called Whatever Happened to Corey Haim? This led to a number of newspapers and magazines trying to track him down. His response was "I'm clean, sober, humble and happy."Haim went on to roles in the films Crank: High Voltage (2009) and Shark City (2009) and was involved in several other projects at the time of his death.
