I was privileged to have called Julian a friend, I still can’t quite believe that we will not share any more fun times together, and my heart and thoughts goes out to his family for their personal loss.
I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time doing various activities with Julian, namely cycling, windsurfing and sea kayaking over many years.
He was such a fun person to be with, and as others have said so kind and willing to help and give advice. He had a great smile and a fantastic sense of humour, I remember clearly him trying to teach me to roll a sea kayak at West Shore, after about 30 attempts I was so dizzy I didn’t even know which way was up or down, he politely mentioned maybe it was time to call it a day.
Julian was a fantastic windsurfer and offered me loads of advice and would always keep an eye on me as I struggled to improve. He came over one day when I had just been dumped in the water yet again and asked if I was ok , I mentioned I keep getting launched over the front, he smiled and said “ That’s great , your getting better, maybe time to learn how to use the straps”.
When I think of Julian now I’m so sad that he’s gone, but also there’s a part of me that remembers all the great times and that makes me smile, I have so many happy memories and thoughts that I will cherish forever.
I know what he’d say if he saw me shedding tears and it certainly wouldn’t be printable here.
The last bike ride I had with Julian took five of us on a 100 mile loop around Anglesey that Julian had organised, yet another fun filled day with loads of banter , he asked a passer by to take a picture of us all at Treaddur Bay which I have put here.
He has left a huge void in our lives by departing far too soon but we are all better for knowing Julian and him giving us great memories which will never go away.
Thanks for being my friend Julian, you left too soon Matey !.
Mike.
