JamesCORNTHWAITEMr James William Cornthwaite, of Woolley Lane, Baxenden, Accrington, died on Monday, November 9, aged 85. He started farming from school, and ran a successful dairy farm and milk round up until his retirement. He lived in Baxenden since being a toddler, working on his father’s farm from leaving school until he married, and then took over the running of his own farm. He was a lifelong Blackburn Rovers fan, a longstanding member of the NFU, and still went to auctions to meet up with other farmers, until he became ill. Since retirement, he became involved with St James Church, Haslingden. He also took up crown green bowling, and was a member of Oakhill Park Bowling Club. He enjoyed many holidays, both abroad and in this country, and loved nothing more than spending time with his family. For many, he will always be remembered as ‘Jim will fix it’. Father of the late Adele, he leaves his loving wife Jacqueline, children Adrienne and Marshall, stepdaughters Susan and Karen, grandchildren Jak, Tom, Zoe, Louise, Penelope, and Rory, great-grandchildren Emily, Jo, and Emre, brothers and sisters. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. The funeral will be held on Monday, November 23, at 1.30pm at St John’s Church, Baxenden, led by Rev Kevin Logan, followed by burial in St John’s churchyard. Family flowers only please, with donations if desired to the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, and North West Air Ambulance. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
