Malachy PatrickCORNWELL-KELLYDied 29th April peacefully at home after a short illness. Much loved husband to Heather, loving Father of Deborah and wonderful Grandfather to Lorenzo and Elisabetta. He will be sadly missed.
Malachy studied law at Kings College, London and used it fully in a very varied career. From the Civil Service he moved to private practice, then the Law Society, the office of Ombudsman in London and was chairman of a Tax Appeal Tribunal. After that he accepted the position of Clerk to Tynwald in the Isle of Man for three years, extended to ten very happy years, and a further year setting up the Isle of Man Office of the Parliamentary Ombudsman.
In retirement Malachy moved with Heather back to England and settled in Tewkesbury, which is much nearer relations and have two navigable rivers. Malachy wasted little time in joining in with the life of the town, becoming the secretary of Tewkesbury Historical Society, Clerk to the Commons and a member of the Civic Society. He had become a strong believer while in London, and took an active part in the Life of the Churches he attended.
Malachy was a big man in every way: six foot three inches tall, with a big heart, quick to make friends, known for his integrity, and of a loving and caring nature.
The Funeral will take place on Tuesday 28th May at 2pm, in Tewkesbury Abbey for all relatives and anyone who knew Malachy.
Flowers and donations are welcome and can be sent to
Alexander Burn Funeral Directors, 23-24 High Street, Tewkesbury, GL20 5AL.
