Roland JamesCROPPERMR Roland James Cropper passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17 at Holme Manor Residential Home, Rawtenstall, aged 93. Roland will be remembered by many from his 25 years running the newsagent's shop on Bank Street with his late wife Margaret. Roland worked for many years as a weaver and tackler at David Whitehead's where he met Margaret, his wife of 55 years. In Roland's own words "I had a wonderful life with Margaret." Roland was a gentleman, a family man and a lifelong member of Lumb Baptist Church which he held dear to his heart. He will be sadly missed by his beloved family who have lost a dear brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Roland's funeral was held at Lumb Baptist Church on Friday, January 31 and afterwards at Rawtenstall Cricket Club. Funeral director: Dawn Winfield for Fred Hamer Funeral Service, Rawtenstall.
