DavidCROSSSuddenly on Monday, November 2 at his home, David, aged 72, of Clayton-le-Moors. Loving husband of Anne, devoted dad to Jackie, John, Joanne and Wendy, dear father-in-law to Nick and Michael, cherished grandad to Kymberley, Kythe, Michael, Thomas, Samantha, Ben, Rhys and Joe, great-grandad to Aaron, Lucy-El, Alfie, Bella and Tyrion and a dear relative and friend to many. David spent his working life as a design engineer at Allspeeds and Warwick and Bailey, where he was always a popular member of his working team and always surrounded by many friends. He also spent some of his time working self employed. David was the founding member of the new Clayton Park Rangers in 2006. David set about forming the club with the help of his son-in-law Michael in order to give the local youth of Clayton-le-Moors, whom he would see often playing football in the local park, the opportunity to have somewhere to attend and learn to play a game they loved in a safe and supervised environment. David handed the reins of chairman over to his son-in-law back in 2014 but continued to remain an instrumental part of the club with the title of Club President. He has left behind a great small flourishing club and will be sadly missed by all its members. He was an active member of the local community at Willow Close and always heavily involved with community events and was the go to person at Willow Close. Each week David would enjoy meeting up with his friends for a couple of pints at the Forts Arms and was a member of the Royal British Legion. Most of all David was a devoted family man who will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A celebration of David’s life will take place alongside his devoted wife Anne at Accrington Crematorium. Flowers are requested for his beloved wife Anne’s love of flowers. For those unable to attend, the ceremony will be live streamed. For log in details please visit www.champfunerals.com/obituaries All enquiries to Champ Funeral Services.
