SPRING HOLIDAYS

As the coast runs by your side -
On either fence – open wide -
And lambs that frolic in the sun -
Small wee things – can hardly run -
Snake like – rivers flow close by -
Slyly weaving to the sea -
Never looking to bid goodbye -
Winding on – end – less- ly
Without so much a sigh!
And looming in the distance fair
Mountains cluster one by one
Tempting all to come so near -
Then blocking the roadway run
Holidays can be such fun!
When all is said – and done.

EASTER BONNET

Noone seems to remember when -
It was more than just a rage -
To dress up in your Sunday best -
And step upon the stage -
To treat the Easter pageant
As something of a treat
To wear an Easter bonnet
Say hello to all you meet.
To parade past pretty houses -
And stroll down Quality Street
To wish all the neighbours -
To dance on nimble feet.
And to ride in an open car -
Let the sunshine fall apace -
And shine in who you are!
The best of the human race.

MOTHERING SUNDAY

Years ago, a posy or two -
Given with a kiss
Was bliss!
For a daughter to spend
A day – away -
To be with a mother dear
Was correct and clear
For young girls went into service
No matter what the weather
So, to have a special day -
Was good to spend together!
I think we should always remember -
That Mothering Sunday is too -
A day of rest and comfort
Surrounded, my love – by you.
For we can still look towards heaven -
For those who alas are gone -
And thank them for being Mothers -
And make sure their names live on.
