DALLAS MCKENNONDallas McKennon, who died on 14 July, 2009, aged 89, was an American voice artist and actor who lent his tones to dozens of well-loved cartoon characters, including the original Frosties mascot Tony the Tiger.He also worked prolifically for Walt Disney, voicing a variety of characters in animated classics like Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks.For 20 years (1952-72) he was also the voice of Buzz Buzzard in Walter Lantz’s Woody Woodpecker cartoons.His on-screen appearances included small roles in Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller The Birds (1963) and Elvis Presley’s Clambake (1967). He also had a recurring role in television’s Daniel Boone (1964-69) and hosted his own children’s television show called Space Funnies in the early 1950s.
