VeraDARLINGTONMrs Vera Darlington, of Haywood Road, Accrington sadly passed away suddenly but peacefully in Brierfield House on Friday, June 5, aged 84. Vera was the much loved and devoted wife of the late Ron Darlington. Mother to Stephen and Philip, she was mother-in-law to Ellen and Michelle, grandmother to Stephanie, Nichola, Paul, Emma, Leanne, Zoe and Harry, and great-grandmother to eight. She was also a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews around the world. Vera was born in Londonderry on the British Army base on September 10, 1935 and shortly after the family moved to Weston-Super- Mare. When Vera was 16 she was crowned Miss Wells and this was something she always talked about. In her younger years Vera was a hairdresser and in later years she enjoyed antique fairs and spending time with her family. She especially loved baking and days out with her grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the staff at Brierfield House for the kindness, care and compassion shown to Vera during her short stay with them. Vera’s cremation took place on Friday, June 19, 9.40am at Accrington Cemetery. No flowers. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Service, Accrington.
