My dear Uncle Peter was a link to my own dad, his brother Roland. After the loss of my own dad Peter was a lifeline, full of wisdom and wise words and together with Barbara by his side they were a constant in my families lives. Welcoming my daughter to the Davey Clan, never missing a birthday or a Sunday chat with my Ma. We loved you Peter more than words can say and will miss you even more.

Thank you Andrew for sending Jeremy’s tribute to his father, my dear cousin Peter. It was very moving and brought tears to my eyes. Of course I knew Peter for all my life, I am 87 now.
My earliest recollection of him goes back to the dark days of the war when my mother and I used to visit Uncle Bill and Aunt Con occasionally. We were living in St Budeaux with my grandmother Harriet for a couple of years and it was a short bus journey, I used to spend my time with Roland as Peter being two years older was a big boy and wasn’t particularly interested in our childish games but he was always friendly and tolerant of the daft things we two got up to.
My father was serving in Montgomery’s 8th Army in North Africa and at the end of the war he came home and our visits to Bill and Con were quite frequent as they and my parents were good friends. So I used to see Peter frequently during those years.
My principal memory of him was at Home Park where with great pride I watched Peter and our cousin Chick playing rugby union in the South West Counties team, a great achievement, after that I switched at school from playing football to rugby hoping to emulate my cousins but not to be. I was quite small and skinny although very nippy as a three quarter back not afraid to tackle bigger boys but not up to my cousins’ standards.
My last memory of Peter was se veral years ago when Pat and I with our daughter Justine had a meet-up with Peter and cousin Sunny in Dingles cafe where we spent a couple of hours having a great time together. Justine and Peter got on both having a wicked sense of humour which seemed to match very well. She is very sad to hear of his passing.
Peter leaves me with many happy memories, a kind and friendly cousin warm hearted and considerate, a good friend and a man who will always be in my heart and in my memory. I look forward to seeing him again in a better place.
Our deepest sympathy to all his family.
Love to you all,
Tony and Pat xxx

Received this from Uncle Bryan:-
Jocelyn and Jo,and Jan, and Jer, and Justin,
So sorry to learn of your Dad's passing today, my and that of my family thoughts and prayers are with you today and always.
Find solace in knowing that Peter was well respected by all, who were fortunate to meet him throughout his life.
To me he was my big brother whom I worshipped and was my source of "special council" on all matters right up until the end and I will sorely miss his wisdom going forward.
I am sure that I am not the only person who was helped, directly or indirectly by your Dad.
Unfortunately, will not be able to return to Plymouth as my own health conditions will not permit long distance travel at this time.
Good luck to all at this sad time in all our lives.............Uncle Bryan and familial

My dad was an incredible man. He was my hero. He provided for his family and made sure all of us had the guidance we needed. I am grateful for my dad and I miss him every day.
Today I am remembering my dad and the many great memories we shared. He was a one of a kind and he was my best friend. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him and smile.
My father was my biggest fan and my greatest role model. I could call him at anytime and he always had a solution to my problem. Life is different without him, but I am grateful I got to call him Dad.
When I remember my dad , I smile each time. He was a Joker and he made us all laugh. He taught me not to take life too seriously. He was always in good spirits even until the day he died.
My dad was my hero
He was the most courageous and resourceful man. I never questioned if he ever loved or cared for me because he made it so obvious. I still feel him with me each day and I am living life for the both of us now.
Love you Dad
Jerry xxx
