DAVID CRISPRemembering music teacher David Crisp, who died in tragic circumstances at his home in Chiang Mai, Thailand on 20 January, 2009.The 54-year-old teacher, composer and conductor, originally from Derby, and then West Lothian, ran a business in the city which is north of Bangkok.Family, friends and his former music students hailed him as an "inspirational and talented" man.Philip Welsby, a long-standing member of the Open Orchestra and a close friend of Mr Crisp, paid tribute to him.He said: "There was a great deal of affection for David from everyone who knew him."He was a quiet sort of chap although, once he got up in front of an orchestra, he became a great wit."He kept in touch when he left in 2006 and he seemed to be living the dream in Thailand."Deb in Chiang Mai told The Times: "Your inspired energy has touched my life as well as many. I will never forget the enthusiasm, life and heart, you made every day! Aloha David."Former pupil, Carolyn Wilson, said: "David was a wonderful teacher, friend and soulmate to me. I was so fortunate to have been taught by him and to go on to teach as a result."The joy my pupils and orchestra bring when they perform is a credit to him."
