KatieDAVIESMrs Kathleen ‘Katie’ Davies, of Rossendale, passed away peacefully with her family in Blackburn Hospital, on Friday, April 30, aged 86. Katie was a wonderful woman. She was a devoted wife to William (Bill) for 54 years, a loving mum to Damian, a loving Nana to Grace and Finn always, and a loving Auntie to Joanne and Julian. Katie also leaves behind a large extended family and friends circle who she valued very much and loved to chat with on the phone. Katie loved her job as a nurse and midwife, having dedicated her life to the profession. She completed her general nursing training at Bury General, then midwifery training at Stepping Hill, Stockport. Following completion of training, Katie returned to Rossendale to practise midwifery, before moving to Edith Watson, Burnley Hospital until she had to take early retirement due to ill health. Katie was a dedicated parishioner at St James the Less R.C. church, and enjoyed many luncheon clubs, Irish nights and trips to Rome and Ireland with her friends there. Whilst not at church, Katie loved to read and knit, with many a cardigan made for her much-loved grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Friday, May 21, with Requiem Mass at St James the Less R.C. Church at 11am, led by Canon McBride and Canon Lupton. Family flowers only please; donations if desired will go to Macmillan Cancer Support. Donations can be made at www. fredhamer.co.uk Funeral director: Dawn Winfield for Fred Hamer Funeral Service.
