DEBORAH WILKESIn memory of Deborah Wilkes, a mother of three children.She was found dead at her home in Leek, Staffordshire, on Sunday August 23, 2009.Family and friends described her as a "loving and caring" mum and grandma.Mrs Wilkes, who formerly worked as a nurse and sister at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, had three children, twins Jessica and Harriet, and a younger daughter, Rosie.She also left a grandson and granddaughter.Mrs Wilkes, who was 49, suffered from Huntington's Disease.She had worked at the hospital for several years but was forced to leave due to her deteriorating health.A North Staffordshire Primary Care Trust spokesman said: "Debbie was a well respected nursing sister, a valued friend and colleague to numerous staff in the Medical Assessment Unit at University Hospital."She will be sadly missed by all of these people and our thoughts are with her daughters and family at this difficult time."Neighbours described Mrs Wilkes as a pleasant woman who would always speak to them in the street.One resident said: "I think it is very tragic. Mrs Wilkes did not enjoy the best of health."We would often see her walking her dog and she would say always say hello."She managed to remain quite cheerful, despite her condition, which had gradually got worse over the years."Another neighbour added: "She was a familiar figure because she used to walk her dog regularly."She always found time to have a bit of a bit chat.
