DEE DEE WARWICKDee Dee Warwick, who died on 18 October, 2008, was a soul singer who enjoyed chart success in the 1960s and '70s.She was the younger sister of Dionne Warwick (also niece of Cissy Houston and a cousin of Whitney Houston) and sang with her in gospel choirs in the '50s before they launched their respective solo careers.During the '60s she was the first artist to have hits with songs like You're No Good (1963) and I'm Gonna Make You Love Me (1966) and she was later Grammy-nominated for the defiant songs of love and betrayal Foolish Fool (1969) and She Didn't Know (She Kept On Talking) (1970).From the late 1970s onwards she sang backup for her sister in the studio and as recently as 2008 she recorded background vocals for Dionne's one woman tour of Europe.Dee Dee died in a nursing home in New Jersey at the aged 63 after a period of "failing health", a family spokesman said.In a statement on her website, Dionne Warwick wrote: "She went peacefully for which I am grateful."I must say thank you to all that held her in prayer … knowing that God has given her a merciful release from the pain she suffered with for so very long has been my comfort."All that is left to say is that God has another incredible voice to add to His angelic choir."
