The love of a Mother
The warmest of welcomes you'd always find
Always happy, generous, caring and kind
Ready to be on hand with a cup of tea
Or something stronger, if need be
Ready to listen, to be a good friend
Being one to confide in, to the very end
A love of music Mum always had
To sing and to dance, made her feel happy and glad
Stong was Mum's faith and in the power of prayer
Whenever in need, she would always care
54 years lived on Barkers Butts Lane
Seen carrying shopping bags, time and again
Neighbours and friends would help to carry that load
Mum grateful as ever, to be walked along the road
Passing her red door will never feel the same
A smile or a wave, from inside the window pane
Or often in the garden, talking at her gate
So hard to leave her, without running late
When leaving her house, you'd be covered in holy water
She did this to most, but especially to sons and daughters
Mum loved a night out and to have a good time
Wearing some lippy and dressed up to the nines!
Felt naked without her rings and painted nails
Always a lady, of that she never failed
But just as happy to be at home wearing PJs
Listening to her CDs or the radio DJs
Enjoyed watching The Good Doctor and never missed The Chase
But I miss her hugs given with such warm embrace
No matter what time you'd visit, a feeder she would be
Follwed by a double vodka, or double G&T
A prayer book and rosary beads were never far from her hand
Always ready to light a candle for all of life's demands
Loved to relax and enjoy a game of cards
Twenty-five her favourite game and each hand she would guard
Taken so suddenly, she is now at rest
She showed such courage, simply the best!
Finally at peace, hand in hand with my Dad
And though I have wept, of this I should be glad
I mourn such loss and continue to weep
Loving memories I have and forever I shall keep
For there's been no mother, kinder or who's heart was purer
With an H added on, her name was Norah!
Missing you more than ever! John D
