MargaretDICKINSONMrs Margaret Dickinson (nee Heaton) of Accrington, formerly of Northfield Road, Rising Bridge passed away peacefully at Royal Blackburn Hospital on Tuesday, August 23, aged 83 years. Margaret was a much loved wife of Harry and mother to Vanessa, Dilys and Vinny. Mother in law to Grahame, Steven and Cheryl. She was also a foster mother to a further 21 children over the years. Sister of Alice and the late Johnny and a beloved grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves many nieces and nephews. She was never happier than when spending time with her family. Margaret was born in Haslingden and married Harry at the Wesley Methodist Church in 1958. She started her working life at the Co-op shoe shop in Haslingden then worked as a battery filler and a weaver before having her children and fostering. Margaret loved children and went on to work at Rossendale General Hospital on the Maternity Unit, where she was completely in her element with all the new babies. Margaret also went on to gain a City and Guilds in lace making after learning the art at night school at Rawtenstall College. Lace making became her passion and she made many good friends as a member of Rossendale and Preston’s Lace Guilds. A celebration of her life will take place at Accrington Crematorium at 11am on Friday, September 2. Flowers or donations in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Society c/o Johnson Durning and Woods Funeral Directors, 8 Pleasant Street, Haslingden.
