DION SMITHTributes have been paid to Dion Smith, a "bright, popular boy with a great future”, who died in a road accident on 10 November, 2008.He was in collision with a car outside Carr Hill Primary School, Tiln Lane, Retford.His mother Kirsty said: "He was a beautiful, bright boy with an infectious personality. He was my rock."I can't believe we will never see him again."In a joint statement, she said with husband Kristian: "We feel so proud and privileged to have had such a precious little boy. He was the spark of our community."Strangers would stop me in the street just to say what a polite young man I have."His headteacher Neil Moore added that ten-year-old Dion was a "bright, articulate, mature boy’ who "had a real spark about him".Dion was a bright, articulate, mature boy," said the head."He was a Year Six pupil and was one of the brightest in his year."He was good at all his subjects and also had a great sense of humour, he had a real spark about him. He was very popular with lots of friends."It is very sad, as I'm sure he had a sparkling future ahead of him."His school friends at Carr Hill Primary School were told the news at an emotional assembly, where they remembered Dion and said prayers for his family.
