Cataracts by Patrick Dobbs
Take me to a quiet estuary
Far from great rocks and raging cataracts,
I’ve had enough white water, racing streams
Where all is action without pause for rest.
I want to lie beside a sheltered bank
Where I can feel the tidal ebb and flow,
Let sun and moon define the time of day,
And if one morning I have sailed away
Don’t look for me or waste a mournful tear.
I’ve had my turn, I cannot ask for more ---
Just feed the cats that come to my back door.
