JamesDOWNESPassed away peacefully on Saturday 5th May 2018, Jim aged 83 formerly of Gorsey Bank, Edgeley, Heaviley and late of Denton. Devoted Husband to the late Pauline Downes, now reunited. Beloved Father and Grandfather also a treasured Relative, Friend and Neighbour who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Jim spent his younger years in the army in Egypt, fighting as part of the Royal Engineers. During his time there, he was also a Physical Training Instructor and feather weight champion boxer. After serving in the army, Jim became a bricklayer by trade, and spent his free time gardening and training his treasured racing greyhounds. He filled the life of those close to him with music, animals, adventures, and a unique sense of humour that was contagious to all who spent time with him. The Funeral Service and Committal is to be held on Tuesday 29th May 2018 at Dukinfield Crematorium at 3:00pm. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired to Dementia UK.
