NormanDRIVERMR Norman Driver, of Bacup, passed on Wednesday, December 30 in Blackburn R.I. at the age of 79. Norman spent 40 years of his working life at Prestige Group plc in Burnley, formerly as an apprentice toolmaker from the age of 16, moving through various roles prior to his redundancy in January 1997, being in charge of safety, security and health & safety. Following redundancy, he took up the role of General Manager at Beta Group in Bacup, prior to his retirement in 2001. He was heavily involved under many different guises in town twinning with Bocholt from 1964. He enjoyed caravanning, being a member of the Caravan Club for 25 years from 1975, also spending many times on European adventures with family and friends. Up until recently, for 14 years, Norman enjoyed spending the first three months of the year staying in Costa Calida in Spain, where many friendships were formed. Husband to Rosalie, father to Christopher and Mark and their wives Debra and Jackie, grandfather to Kayleigh and Zack, step-grandfather to three grandchildren and seven step, great-grandchildren, brother to Geoff and David. The funeral is to be held at Burnley Crematorium on Monday, January 18. Family flowers only, with donations to British Heart Foundation.
