My headmistress, too. Always immaculately dressed, softly-spoken, but with such an air of authority! We all had a great deal of respect for her, and I am saddened to find that she is no longer with us.

Dear Miss Gallagher, I feel sure that the lady you refer to was indeed my aunt, Sally Dunn, who studied at St Hugh's. Please do contact me by email via this website, and I would be delighted to hear from you. Yours truly, Alistair Sutherland (son of Mysie Sutherland née Dunn, Sally's younger sister)

Dear Messrs Dunn, My elderly mother, Freda Gallagher nee Hanson was at Oxford with a lady called Sally Dunn. They shared a room in their first year at St Hugh's College in 1939. I am looking to identify my mother's friends in some of her photo collection for her as her eye sight is now quite poor. I am sure one of the ladies is Sally. They were very good friends.

I feel sure that Sally and your late sister were the same person.

I would be delighted if you could contact me and then I could share some of the photos with you.
With best wishes Margaret Gallagher

My headmistress at Colston Girls School from 1966 to 1972. Always impeccable.
