DavidEDGARMR David Edgar, of Russell Place, Great Harwood passed away on Friday, May 22, aged 95. He was retired but was formerly a legal executive who worked in Great Harwood for almost 40 years. On leaving school in Blackburn, David went immediately into the Army and served his country in WW2 in Burma and the Far East. On returning to England he started work at a solicitors in Great Harwood where he met his wife Rena. David loved his family and enjoyed walking and the countryside, especially in the Ribble Valley, Lake District and Yorkshire. He enjoyed visiting new places, especially around the UK and he was, for a number of years, a member of the National Trust. He loved gardening and reading and was an active member of Toc H in his retirement and was instrumental in planning, sourcing materials, organising the construction and the dedication of the Accrington Pals Memorial in Northern France. David leaves his wife Rena to whom he was married for over 69 years and a son Steven, together with a daughter-in-law, two granddaughters and two great-grandsons. David was due to be cremated at Accrington Crematorium on Thursday, June 4 at 1pm. Given current restrictions this service was for close family and friends only.
