MaryENTWISTLE NÉE MCGRATHMary ENTWISTLE née McGrath of Oswaldtwistle, passed away peacefully at Springhill Care Home on November 15, aged 88 years.
The devoted and much loved wife of Ronnie, loving and loved mum of Ronnie and Lynne, dear mother-in-law of Denise and Tony, cherished grandma of Mark, Stephen, Graham and Louise, great-grandma of Benjamin, Jack, Henry, Amelie, Daisy, Alfie and Layla.

Born in Oswaldtwistle in 1935 as the only child of Bill and Mary McGrath, the family lived at Simpson Street and she attended Rhyddings School where she met her husband to be Ronnie. The couple were married in 1955 and went on to have their two children Ronnie and Lynne. Following her school years Mary began her working life at Oswaldtwistle Co-Op and later worked at Moor End School and Johnsons dry cleaners in Accrington. In the late 60s Mary and Ronnie bought a greengrocers on Blackburn Road, Accrington and in her later years Mary assisted Ronnie with the clerical work for his engineering business. Mary was a keen Royalist and was thrilled when she got chance to visit Buckingham Palace during her trip to London. Together, Mary and Ronnie had many wonderful and happy years enjoying trips to Spain and in later years they enjoyed several coach tours to the south coast of England. They shared a love of St Annes and spent many happy times there over the years. They enjoyed socialising with friends and loved spending time with their grandchildren and in more recent years seeing their great-grandchildren who gave them both enormous pleasure. Mary spent the last six years at Springhill Care Home and she always greeted her many visitors with a welcoming smile.

Mary’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the team at Springhill for the love and care shown to her during her time with them.

Mary will be greatly missed but fondly remembered by all her family and friends, in particular Ronnie her loving husband and her children Ronnie and Lynne, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 30 at Accrington Crematorium at 11.00am.
