ERICK LEE PURKHISERAmerican musician Erick Lee Purkhiser, better known as Lux Interior, who was a founding member of the legendary garage/punk band The Cramps, died on 4 February, 2009, at the age of 62.He started the group with his wife, Kirsty Wallace, alias Poison Ivy, in 1976 and they soon became part of the flourishing punk scene in New York.Lux, who was the band’s frontman, took his name from an old car commercial, while his wife’s stage name was said to have been inspired by a vision she had in a dream.They called their musical style psychobilly, mixing elements of punk rock, rockabilly and other genres. Classic Clamps' releases included Songs The Lord Taught Us, Psychedelic Jungle, and their best-selling album, Bad Music for Bad People.Lux died in Glendale Memorial Hospital, California, from a pre-existing heart condition.
