JoanERSKINEJoan passed away at Hazelwell Care Home, Heswall, attended by her husband Brian. A daughter to Isobelle and Charles and elder sister to Margaret, Joan enjoyed the warmth of a loving family. After attending St Elizabeth's primary school and Seafield Convent Grammar School she studied Biology and Microbiology at Liverpool University. At that time women were discouraged from working on research ships, Joan decided on a career in teaching, and never looked back. Teaching in state grammar and comprehensive education, Joan retired as Headteacher of West Kirby Girls Grammar School. A Requiem Mass will be held for Joan on Wednesday 15th February at 1.30pm at Ss Peter and Paul RC Church, 161 Liverpool Road, Crosby L23 5TE. Family will later attend Thornton Crematorium. A buffet reception is planned to be held at The Northern Club following the church service. Flowers are not required. Donations to Dementia UK are welcome.
