My grand uncle Francis (Frank) March was born in Leicester in February 1883.
He enlisted in December 1915 at Newport, Isle of Wight, where he was a prison officer.
He was gassed at Bullecourt, Pas-de-Calais, in France in March 1918 and died in December 1918 at Wandsworth Prison, where he was again a prison officer.

By 1926 both his wife Frances Ellen and 14-year-old daughter Dorothy had died of TB.
