I knew him through his contributions to TeX and his many helpful postings. He showed many of us the way to make the world better through his kindness and generosity. He will be remembered.

Yes sad news, I knew him initially through discussions on ANU News then discussions on TeX and our shared musical interests and the de-cluttering of Radio 3!

One of the three Laser-Scan Robins of the 80s. Such a quiet and thoughtful colleague with solutions for many of our customers and not a bad word for anyone. I certainly remember the sleeveless pullovers and the Gandalf beard that were his public image. Thanks, Robin, for the memories.

This is indeed very sad news ... I knew Robin through our work in the TeX community over several decades -- he was the man who seemed to know how to fix just about anything -- and then explain it to me, someone who can only just grasp the basics of what he was doing. Both on-line and in person, he was always ready with easy-to-understand explanations and assistance -- and just generally a lovely person to correspond with. We share our birthdays in March -- I'm so very sad that he's now gone.
