Sir, as he was to me, taught me during his teaching career at Rykneld School in Derby. He had the patience of a Saint and a wicked sense of humour and needed both in a Secondary Modern School for boys. In my 5th year he was my form tutor and would just leave the register open until myself and the 10minute late gang turned up for registration. I'm not sure if he drew the short straw, but he took a coach load of 5th year lads to Brugge in May '73. His approach to teaching us 'lads' was inspirational and led me to enter the teaching profession. I briefly caught up with 'sir' whilst teaching but then life just overtakes but the memories will always live on. Condolences to his family, 'sir' was a much loved teacher. Simon Paley, class of '73
