Miss Gloria MayFAULKNORPassed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday 20th April with the kind and caring medical team at the Royal Derby Hospital CCU department by her side, aged 82 years. She was a loving aunt, cousin and genuine friend to so many people here in the UK and across the seas in Jamaica, Canada and America. We will all truly miss your singing, laughter and dry wit. Gloria started her nursing adventure when she travelled from Jamaica in the early 60's and proceeded to train in Mansfield, Nottingham, Doncaster and Derby, before finally deciding that Mickleover in Derby would become her permanent home, where she lived for over 40 years. She progressed from nurse to midwife and then specialised in the care of premature and sick babies, and was sister on the Baby Unit at Derby Hospital for over 26 years prior to her retirement in 1999. Due to current circumstances a private funeral service for a small group of mourners will be held at the graveside at Nottingham Road Cemetery, Derby.
