My belated condolences to the family of Mr Faulks.
The Stanley Junior School morning assemblies are an early cornerstone memory always accompanied by Holst's The Planets (Jupiter, a favourite), Prokofiev's Peter & The Wolf...played on vinyl LP. I wonder if Mr Hancock ever recorded Mr Faulks' assembly talks on his dual-reel tape recorder? I'm certain his sentiments would apply today.
Mr Faulks balanced his authority as a Head Master alongside a willingness to be accessible and approachable by every pupil (probably especially those who presented challenges).
Even as a primary school child in the early seventies, Mr Faulks stood-out a local hero - a man of sincerity and compassion who was always interested in YOU. Indeed, I retain his hand-written personalised comments on my school reports.
Mr Faulks was as Special Guest at a Boys' Brigade Display & Awards Evening at Mansfield Road Baptist Church, circa 1977. I have an abiding memory that he seemed to remember me - as I recall his unwavering commitment to inspire us as youngsters. Thanks, Mr Faulks.
