Ed was a man of great integrity with full commitment to any project he had in hand. I first met Ed when he was Deputy Chair of NEBOSH in 1995. It was clear at that time there was a shortage of good text books for the Health and Safety Profession. When I stepped down as Chair of NEBOSH Ed agreed to join me to fill that gap as a co-author.
Ed was very committed to the project and became a friend as well as a reliable business colleague. We co produced all the Introduction to Health and Safety series which is in its 6th Revision and is still available today. IT became the standard for the Profession over many years.
We had good times together with his wife Jill and visited their house in Illogan. They visited us in France, Warwickshire and Southampton. It was a pleasure working with Ed whose knowledge of H&S was extensive. We will miss him greatly and offer every sympathy to Jill , Hannah and Benjamin at this sad moment.

So very sad to hear of Ed's passing. I'd known him since 2016, serving as his editor at Routledge. He was, of course, a brilliant man and universally respected within the health & safety community, but I also enormously admired how Ed was at the same time very direct and also a complete gentleman. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, in every way the expert author, and I'll miss him enormously. My heartfelt condolences to all his family and many friends - the passing of a great man like Ed leaves a big hole in all our lives. Guy Loft
