JoanFLETCHERof Christchurch Street, Bacup, died at home on Saturday, January 30, aged 86. Before retiring Joan was a BBC reporter at the time of the first moon landing, an accountant at Barton Mill, worked various retail and catering jobs, and later did charity work for Age Concern. She loved poetry, writing short stories, handicrafts, her garden and gardening, baking and competitions. Married to her late husband of over 45 years Frank Fletcher, she leaves children Elizabeth, Alistair and wife Susan, Kirsten and husband Stephen, grandchildren Benjamin, Rebecca, Liam, and Danny, and great grandchildren Matilda Rose and Bonnie Bell. The funeral will be held on Monday, February 8, at 3pm at Accrington Crematorium, led by Dave Bartram. Family flowers only; donations if desired to The Christie in memory of Frank Fletcher, at Joan’s request. Due to Covid restrictions numbers allowed in the crematorium are limited.
